Volunteer Work
Our Commitment to Community: Volunteer Work with Pilots N Paws
At Dawes Aviation, we believe in giving back to the community through meaningful volunteer work. One of our proudest contributions is through Pilots N Paws, an organization dedicated to transporting rescue animals to their new homes. Our founder and chief pilot, Roger, along with his team, volunteers their time and skills to fly dogs in need to foster or forever homes across the country.
Rescue from High-Kill Shelters:
We often transport dogs from high-kill shelters, giving them a second chance at life. For instance, we flew a group of young puppies from a shelter in Las Vegas to Reno. Despite their young age and need for special care during the flight, we ensured they were warm and safe, and they were eventually taken to loving homes in Washington.
Saving Abused Animals:
We also help dogs rescued from abusive environments. One memorable flight involved a dog from Ontario who was so fearful of men that he wouldn’t even eat. We transported him to Paso Robles, where he was placed in a rescue center until he could find a forever home.
Multi-leg Transports:
Some rescues require complex, multi-leg transports. We collaborated with other pilots to ensure a smooth transition for an underweight dog from a high-kill shelter in Vegas, ultimately rehoming him in Washington.
Supporting Orphaned Pets:
We also assist pets whose owners can no longer care for them. One such mission involved flying a high-energy dog from Vegas to Phoenix after his owner passed away. Despite the circumstances, this sweet dog found a new home where he could thrive.
Our volunteer flights save lives and bring hope to countless animals. At Dawes Aviation, we’re proud to use our skills to make a positive impact in our community!
